ISTQB® CERTIFIED TESTER ADVANCED LEVEL TEST MANAGER COURSE
This 5-days course focuses on testing topics including testing processes, risk management, test planning and control, reporting, resourcing, communication, team development, test process improvement, defect classification and tool support. Candidates will be given exercises, practice exams and learning aids for the ISTQB Advanced Test Manager certificate.
Provide understanding of test management issues beyond the ISTQB Foundation kevel, giving participants the necessary skills needed to become an effective Advance Test Manager.
Who this course is for?
This course is appropriate for testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, and anyone wishing to gain the ISTQB® Advanced Test Manager Certificate as well as anyone who wants a deeper understanding of software testing.
To take the ISTQB Advanced Test Manager Certificate candidates must hold the ISTQB Foundation certificate. There are no prerequisites for participating in the course without taking the exam.

Advanced Test Manager
This section looks at the test manager’s activities in the fundamental test process, with emphasis on the test planning, monitoring and control tasks. Describe how to implement a project retrospective.
Explains how to define test management tasks according to the context of the project and adjust test activities to the software lifecycle in use. Discuss risk-based testing used for test prioritization and effort allocation and learn specific techniques. Participants will learn how to address stakeholders’ views when assessing risk levels and defining risk mitigation activities. This section also covers methods for estimating test effort. Distributed, outsourced and insourced test organization are described.
Learn the role of a test manager in defining a proper review plan and setting up a review to achieve the best results. Learn how to lead a review team through a formal review. Learn how to use metrics to optimize the review results and to show ROI.
Explains how to set up and tailor a defect lifecycle and how to analyze defect reports with the objective of evaluating the test and development processes.
Here the focus is on using checklists to identify defects in use cases and in requirements specifications from a tester’s perspective. Sample checklists are supplied and participants learn how to present problems found in a review meeting.
Explains how to define and use defect classification values classify defects found. Includes a discussion using root cause information for process improvement. Also, how to perform preliminary root cause analysis.
Improving the test process
This section explains the generic steps to conduct a standard test process improvement initiative and how to create a test improvement plan. Includes the test process improvement models TMMi, TPI Next, CTP and STEP.
Test tools and automation
This section explains how to plan and implement the selection of different tools considering risks, costs, benefits and opportunities. Tool use for metrics collection and evaluation is described.
People skills – team composition
Describe how to assess the availability of soft skills along with technical, business domain and testing skills required for a test team, as well as plan skills development for the test members.
The Advanced-Test Manager Certificate is awarded to those who pass a written three-hour 65 multiplechoice exam which may take place on the fifth afternoon of the course or at a later date. An adittional fee of 3500/- will be applied to book the exam.
